Back to the UK today after a quick 45 minute flight. Getting to our hotel was easy, thanks to a helpful airport information lady. She was excited to learn we were from Wisconsin ('you make cheese!', she says), but was very disappointed neither of us could tell her the state flower (she said she'd google it later).
Today was a day pictures and this blog won't do justice for what we saw. Our first stop was Edinburgh Castle set on top of a cliff on one end of the Royal Mile, and right in the middle of the city. We spent 2 hours roaming around finding new views of the city, old prison cells (some that held americans from the revolutionary war), and the scottish crown jewels (along side was the coronation stone, which is a stone scottish kings were sworn in on, but dates back so long even they don't know why they do it).
After the castle, we wandered down the Royal Mile towards Scottish Parliment and the Holyroad House (where the royal family stays when visiting). When we got there, we saw people climbing a huge cliff (called King Arthur's Seat). We thought we'd give it a go, and it was a great decision. It took about an hour to get to the peak of our path (we chickened out and didn't take the path to the absolute top) but it was amazing anyway.
After the two climbs, we were spent. We grabbed a beer, some food, and hit the sack in our less-than-nice hotel. So far, nice people and great sites, can't wait for tomorrow.

State Flower: Wood Violet (Viola papilionacea) Adopted as Wisconsin's official state flower on Arbor Day 1909, the wood violet's gentle green leaves and purple petals sway in the breeze reflecting Wisconsin's scenic beauty.
