Our morning routine didn't change much with Brooke's parents in the mix; we started the day with cafe and croissants. After breakfast, we took a 20 minute train ride to Cannes with no plan for what to do on arrival.
Having no plan has its ups and downs, and our afternoon in Cannes had a few examples of both. Walking without much of a plan towards and then along the beach until we got hot and tired, then another half hour trying to find a place to stop for a drink. The up parts are getting the drink and the time after until you get too hot/tired. The down parts are the last half hour looking for a place to stop.
Cannes had more than walking and the occasional drink, it also has beaches with sand! We took about an hour to catch some rays and jump in the surprisingly cold Mediterranean until it was just too hot (it was 90 today) and we needed some food.
After our late lunch, we walked around and cooked on the pavement. Towards the end, we were darting into shops just for the A/C (including the fancy ones with $85 T-shirts). We were particularly excited about finding the grocery store with a freezer section. We also happened upon a everything's a dollar store (which here is everything's a 1.90 euro store). A half hour later we had flip flops, shirts, and enough A/C to make it to the train station.
We went back to the same area in Nice as yesterday for dinner, which is a strip of restaurant after restaurant. It had finally cooled down outside, and it was easy to relax. On the way home we accidentally found a pedestrian walkway with street artists and musicians, which was a good cap on the day.
When we got back, we watched our 20 minutes of CNN International news, and hit the sack.
Tomorrow it's on to Monaco.
