For breakfast we went back to the Pancake Bakery and it was just as good as yesterday. We rented bikes again, which was a little more difficult because our hotel was out of bikes. Eventually we were back on the road and dodging pedestrians, cars, and other bikers. One additional hurdle here is that the bikes are not the only vehicles allowed on the bike lanes. Mopeds regularly ride in the bike lanes and we even saw a Smart car pass us.
Our first bike pit stop was at the floating flower market. Amsterdam is famous for growing and selling all varieties of flowers (insert marijuana joke). That said, the floating flower market wasn't that interesting.
Our second stop was a windmill. This was no ordinary windmill, however, as the Brouwerij 't IJ Brewery was attached. Tours were only given on the weekend, but they had a bar on premisis where you could see through a window to the small brewing operation. The bartender was the first person in Amsterdam we met that didn't speak English and they had no English menu. We managed to succeed at ordering a few beers anyway, and sampled all six types of really good brews before leaving.
After our tasting we headed back to the hotel to lock up our bikes for the evening. We had Thai one last time and retired for the night.
PS - Happy 3rd Anniversary to us!
happy anniversary
