We caught a morning flight out of Barcelona and headed for Geneva, Switzerland. We were going to take the train to our final destination, Lausanne, Switzerland, but decided to grab lunch and walk around Geneva first. We walked to the original Lake Geneva from the train station and got a snack within view of the big fountain thing.
Then we headed to Lausanne, Switzerland, a city of about 125,000 people about 45 minutes away and also on the lake and in the French part of Switzerland. After walked 20 minutes with our bags we arrived at out hotel to find the there was a subway stop right next door that went right to the train station.
We walked down to Lake Geneva again, got "nachos" (Doritos with guacamole), then decided to head up to the cathedral. When we got there we were surprised to find out we had arrived a half-hour into the first day of a ten day festival that took up several city blocks surrounding the cathedral and other old city center buildings.
What a cool thing to stumble into. The festival has stages for music and other performances, food, beer, and street performers. We stuffed ourselves with Vietnamese food and
churros, had a couple beers, and waited for the band to come out on the main stage. The band turned out to be heavily Cantonese-influenced, and we left after a few songs.
The only other stop was to a microbrewery pub, which was ok, but no Lakefront Brewery. We fought our exhaustion from our night out in Barcelona and made it until about midnight.
