Our first stop was back up to the Prague Castle area this morning. We were glad we walked around last night because it was very busy with tourists in the day. While at first we didn't buy tickets to get in because they only sold "tour" tickets, we found out later that the tickets had no actual "tour," it was just a bad translation. So we bought a ticket and walked in a few places, but the exterior walk was more interesting than the interiors. We never made it in the Basilica, as the line looked like it'd take an hour.
One cool thing we stumbled on was some sort of a military uniformed band (30 or so members) playing a free concert just outside the walls. We listened to a song or two and then moved on.
We walked across the Charles Bridge to a famous clock tower. We got a drink by it so we could see the clock strike on the hour and see the 12 apostles pop out. As it neared 2:00 it got very crowded and the ringing of the bells, etc. was really not that impressive. The market square we were in, however, was impressive with several big churches, statues, restaurants, and lots of people.
After trying to figure out our night train to Budapest for tomorrow at the train station, we walked to Wenceslas Square (see pic). Kevin had a delicious street-side valcov sausage (kinda tastes like Polish sausage).
We wondered though the old town area and then at 7:30 it happened, we cracked on day 46. We walked by a Hard Rock Cafe and couldn't resist any longer. We went in and got cheeseburgers and fries. We have no regrets. We figure we have earned a little Czech cred by having beef goulash and a street-side valcov sausage, so it wasn't that bad.
After that we pretty much repeated last night, pub hopping and sampling Czech beers. In one underground cave-like pub we listened to a good live blues/jazz band.
